Tracking Zeitgeist: 'Overheard'

Twitter Track has been tracking concepts, interests, and keywords over SMS and IM for nearly 2 weeks now. One of the most popular keywords being tracked is overheard. It's kinda like Overheard in New York—but global. Some recent matches:
Overheard in the hallway: "hey, we know each other through Twitter!" –Alex de Carvalho
Overheard: "so you know I'm donating my kidney to my sister..." –Chris Wetherell
To track what other people are overhearing, send track overheard to Twitter. Had enough? Send untrack overheard. Have you overheard something you must share with others? Simply include the word overheard in your update and share it with others. What interesting words are you tracking on Twitter?

question: if I am following someone but have notifications turned off, and they say a word I am tracking, will I get the update on my phone?

Yep. I am tracking all my replies (i.e. "track @teradome") and this happened with someone I follow but did not turn notifications on for.

This is effectively using track to create "channels" on twitter. Basically people can agree on a word to track, and people just include this word on their messages to this channel.

Now, if the 'track' command didn't ignore special chars, it would be nice to agree on #name as a convention microformat for "channels" people can track. It would be great.

I'm tracking Tucson... the city where I live. You'd be surprised at how many little-known facts you can find out about.

i think tracking is a cool concept, but invariably there will be stuff out there that you dont know about that might be useful for you.

what i am trying to do is pull these niche tweets out and pull together a cool micropaper.

Hi, I'm not sure this is the right place to post my question, with so many forums and blogs and community-based help centers. However, my question is very simple and I can't seem to find the answer online: can I use the tracking device somewhere else other then IM or mobile? That is, online -RSS, my twitter profile or something... I find it very useful and yet not interested in recieving SMS or IM updates.
