One place that posted the video made the comment that it only focused on the "what are you doing?" question, and not on some of the other uses of Twitter. However, I suspect that most people will START using Twitter to get in touch with their friends.
I don't know that anyone has thought to themselves, "Hmm...how will I get news if there's a fire in San Diego? I'd better sign up for Twitter!" Or, "I wonder what complete strangers are saying about the Super Bowl Ads? I'd better sign up for Twitter!"
Twitter is certainly useful in such cases, but that's something that is easily discovered once you get on the service. The Common Craft video works on getting you to sign up.

Hello Twitter folk,
This video is nicely done and helps others develop an understanding, at a high level perhaps, what Twitter is about.
The subject of micro-blogging is not going away and holds all kinds of potential yet to be realized in the social interaction arena.
So thanks, and keep up the good work!
I think the video is fantastic. Every time I need to explain Twitter to someone, this is the first thing I'm going to go for.
Plus Lee and CommonCraft is AWESOME!
Thanks for the nice words folks. :) Biz, it's our pleasure. Link it up as you wish.
it is very good stuff... lucky if you get such great ho-wo guides for free... :)
