Presenting Twitter
This video is only one small example of why I'm proud to be working with Jack and other smart, inspiring people on the Twitter team. In this short overview, Jack shares his compelling vision for Twitter to a small crowd of interested folks. Jack Dorsey Presents Twitter from biz stone on Vimeo.

Just letting the readers know that the Marathi (Indian language) tweet featured in the video was sent by @harshadsharma, who has changed his handle to @hiway now. Also, the tweet was a reply to my Twitter handle which is @aalaap and not @aalap as spelt wrongly in the tweet! :(
Twitter is just compensation for the human fear that the world doesn't exist when you aren't looking at it.
:-)
That's a pretty cool presentation. For some people it is hard to understand the purpose of Twitter and convincing them is even harder. I think people now a days are suffering from so many social networking sites that they can't understand why use Twitter to receive an SMS that you can just send directly.
That confuses a lot of people. But some people just like to connect to others just like me and follow people that they find amusing. I get at least 1 or 2 people adding me a day to my @rebelliousgirl account. I may never meet them in real life, but that 120 character blurb sometimes makes me laugh when having a bad day.
I say Twitter is just plain fun and amusing!
very nice presentation. My wish would be a way to merge @ and D+ responses. I don't read my friends' outgoing personal e-mail, why should I be reading one side of their personal conversations with another twitter user?
Great presentation Jack, well done!
Very excited to watch this clip
That's pretty inspiring. Overall I think Twitter is one of the most exciting new apps on the Internet.
However, I'd really like it if the "Flash with Friends" badge would start working. That's my favorite thing about Twitter and it has been busted for a week.
excellent presentation (not just content but delivery.)
@sciencevrsromance- d conversations are private- like talking quietly in the corner or in another room.
@ conversations are like public conversations- like at a party. There is the general conversation, then you might say, "hey, dave, what do you think about blah..." in speech, the hey dave is to get his attention away from the buffet and to the conversation. In twitter, that's what the @ is for- to get their attention in a busy, bustling, multiperson conversation.
If it's private, use d. How can it be that hard?
@twitter please don't change how @ works- it isn't d and I enjoy it that way.

Too bad Twitter isn't working right now. Also, why isn't XMMP being sent out so Hashtags work?
Nice video comment.
hmmm. Four or five times twitter has been unavailable in two weeks. My skepticism is on the rise.
Hey, Thurs Jun 5 now..... sad to hear you lost a database! It sure keeps you guys hard at work with this first build of twitter... We're all still with you guys! Keep up the hard work. It's not that hard to wait it out. The fact that we go crazy when Twitter is down for an hour just shows how overly addicted some people are to web services and products. Not a bad thing for Twitter, I know, but just saying that if we all have to wait an hour, we'll survive!
Nice video, good to hear some of the background and thoughts that he had when wanting to build twitter.
Could you condense that into 140 characters or less?
I am a pastor in Jackson, MI. at Westwinds Church. Twitter has been a wonderful find for me and our church.
I have connected with more people in meaningful ways through Twitter in the last 5 months than I believed possible--and made new friends.
This past Sunday, we used Twitter on three huge screens during church services. The feed was live on the screens through the music, message, and communion.
I created a screen name @westwindsseries and we invited people to follow us. We had over 70 followers in a couple of days.
My personal identity is @shameonyoko
I did a training class on how to set up Twitter for the church the week before we went live.
Throughout all the services, people were able to Twitter their thoughts and reflections and ask questions, etc. Many of the comments were just funny and community building.
We will use Twitter live on the screens again this weekend.
People who were watching our church live stream on the web were also joining in on the Twitter conversation all over the world.
Amazing.
You guys are doing great work even through all the glitches and growing pains. Keep it up.
Please come visit my blog. I have writter quite a few posts on Twitter and Twitter Church. http://www.johnvoelz.com
Great video :)
Very good article, i would like to put it into my page, can I ??
Nice presentation. I'm always a little surprised at what a good job Twitter does with subtle branding (I'm thinking about the slides in the presentation). Of course, I can't twitter about watching the video because Twitter is down for 'temporary maintenance'.
What's more, I can't easily access the status tumblr site because the only links from the maintenance page are to this "Blog" and "Help" (maybe Twitter should add links to the status.twitter.com)
When I do make my way to the status site the hard way, the last two updates are:
1. Friday morning DB problem (today)
2. Lost a database (yesterday)
Well what was last week like?
Friday slowness (last Friday)
Really, Twitter the idea may or may not be a powerful one, but the current implementation is just awful. There is nothing quite so frustrating, and pathetic really, as having someone point to something that's broken and tell you how great it would be if it were working.
It's been two years. The folks at Twitter, who I'm sure are perfectly nice and intelligent people, should have seen this coming a mile away (let's that a mile is roughly equal to 12 - 16 months) .
I have a hard time understanding the rationale bandied around the web of rebuilding Twitter as some sort of distributed service. The current infrastructure is broken. A broken distributed infrastructure wouldn't work any better.
I'm really not trying to be snarky, but touchy-feely sentiment is a poor substitute for functionality and performance. Is Twitter intended to be a proof of concept effort or a legitimately useful service? You've sold people on the latter but you're delivering the former.
So much better than the twitter intro video. This is the best description of Twitter I've ever seen.
I hope the twitter team is impressed with the importance of this application. There are a lot of copycats cropping up all over the place, but twitter has the critical mass it needs to be an important part of our global social fabric.
I hope those engineers are moving quickly to prop it back up, and repair the recent damage to twitter's reputation.
Jack,
We were deeply honored by your mention of @LAFD during the presentation.
Thanks for allowing us to use Twitter to help people lead safer, healthier and more productive lives.
Respectfully Yours in Safety and Service,

Excellent presentation. I know this comment may sound shallow, but Jack is pretty hot. Hot, geeky and smart. Very cool.
Nice explanation and examples. I like the use of auto-sending twits that maintain connections and reinforce presence for just about anything.
Just love the presentation..! Thanks for this Jack.. twitter has more on its way with its third party developers coming up with some amazing ideas very often!
Cheers & Best Wishes to Twitter Team!
Either I am confused about Twitter's business model, or they are relying on teh voyeurs of the world to keep them in business...and yes, I realize I'm here myself
So whose plant is it in California? The account "fern22" doesn't seem to exist...
