Every day, millions of people use Twitter to share information and links about what’s happening right now. Many of those links are to the bands and songs they’re listening to. We’re working with Apple to make that music sharing experience even easier.

Starting today, we’re integrating iTunes Ping and Twitter to make it easier for people to share music in Tweets, preview songs right from Twitter.com, and quickly act on their interests with direct link to purchase music on iTunes.

Music is, more often than not, a shared experience – whether that means singing with friends in the car, seeing a live concert with buddies from college, or making a mix for someone you’re dating. This new integration builds on that by bringing an additional social layer to Ping and allowing people to more easily share the music they’re into and find other people to follow on Ping.

How does it work?
You can link your Twitter account to your Ping account to easily discover and follow Ping users you already follow on Twitter. When you Comment or Like a song in Ping, you can automatically share that song with your followers on Twitter. You can also tweet a full album from any album page in Ping through the “Buy” drop-down button (or Post button TBD).

And better yet, we’re introducing a brand new details pane integration on the new Twitter. When you click on a Tweet that is sent via Ping, you will see a single song or full album display. You can even listen to a preview of the song(s) without leaving the page. There is also an easy option to go directly to iTunes to purchase the song.

The preview option is currently available only on Twitter.com in the 23 countries* where the iTunes store is offered today. We look forward to working with Apple to bring this functionality to other clients, such as Twitter for iPhone and Twitter for iPad, in the future.
