The Billboard Trending 140: Oct. 13-20

Monday, 27 October 2014

On October 16th, @FooFighters released “Something from Nothing,” the first single off their new album “Sonic Highways.” The band used Twitter’s new @iTunes audio card to debut the track. The song was the most mentioned on Twitter on October 17 and sits at the #3 position for Popular Debuts this week. Play the song in this tweet:

Also on October 16, @ChanceTheRapper debuted “No Better Blues” on Twitter using the new Soundcloud audio card. His song stayed on top of the Trending 140 all weekend and is the #6 most Popular Debut of the week.

Its almost time for Taylor Swift’s (@taylorswift13) highly anticipated album “1989” to debut, and no surprise, her songs are all over the Popular Chart. She’s moved to New York (“Welcome to New York”) and might be “Out of the Woods” about Harry Styles. Swifties discussed “Out of the Woods” enough to move it to the #3 most Popular Songs of the week.

Harry may have the last laugh here because @OneDirection’s “Steal My Girl” is still the most Popular Song this week. The @Spotify stream, and anticipation for the official music video – which debuted Friday October 24 – kept 1D fans tweeting #StealMyGirl.

The most Popular Debut this week goes to Top Dawg Entertainment (@TopDogEnt) artist @JayRock for “Parental Advisory.” The song has over 912k plays on Soundcloud since October 15.

The Emerging Chart welcomed @DeJLoaf back in late September and “Try Me” is holding strong with the #1 spot on the Emerging Chart. Lil Loaf got love from the fellow Detroit artist @BigSean and recently signed to Columbia Records. Keep an eye out:
