Five #CWC15 wins in a row for Team India as MS Dhoni makes history during #INDvIRE

Five wins out of five. MS Dhoni’s ninth consecutive Cricket World Cup win as captain means he’s now tied with West Indian legend Clive Lloyd for second place in the history books. India (@BCCI) remained unbeaten at #CWC15 as they overcame Ireland (@CricketIreland) in a clinical run chase to top Pool B. Here’s how #INDvIRE played out on Twitter.

Twitter was the default second screen across India as there were 25.1 million live Tweet impressions for #INDvIRE during the #CWC15 match window.

Shikhar Dhawan (@SDhawan25) cracked his second century of the event and came away with the Man of the Match award which he celebrated with a twirl of his now-famous moustache for a Twitter Mirror photo.

India’s winning moment had the highest Tweets-per-minute and a majority of the peak moments came in the second innings as the Indian batsmen put on a show in a comfortable run chase.

Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma were the top two most mentioned players for their match winning opening partnership but interestingly, MS Dhoni, who did not bat, was the third most mentioned player for his stellar captaincy.

With the captain’s record being one of the highlights around the match, Star Sports used Twitter to drive conversation and carried it on-air during the post match show by featuring the best Tweets from users mentioning their favourite MS Dhoni moment as captain.

@ICC then used Twitter’s video player to Tweet out a recap of the day’s play with their #CWCDaily show a few hours after the match, even featuring fan Tweets in the episode.

In addition to this, our special Cricket World Cup timeline, accessible via a Twitter search for #CWC15 or the official match hashtags (eg. #INDvZIM), was a fun destination to experience #INDvIRE for Tweets, commentary and expert analysis, plus photos and videos before, during and after the match.
