Eight is the magic number. India (@BCCI) went past their own record of seven consecutive wins at @ICC Cricket World Cup matches with an all-round performance over West Indies (@westindies). Coincidentally, that streak began started against the men from the Caribbean during the 2011 tournament. Here’s a look back at how #INDvWI took over Twitter.

There were 40.7 million live Tweet impressions for #INDvWI during the #CWC15 match window, once again proving that Twitter is the second screen for live cricket and sport in India.

Mohammed Shami won accolades and the man-of-the-match award with his match winning spell. He stopped to soak in the moment with the Twitter Mirror as he was cheered on by the Indian contingent.

The moment when India sealed victory with an MS Dhoni boundary predictably brought about the biggest spike in conversation. Interestingly, of the top 3 most Tweeted moments, two of them are from the first innings as the Indian bowlers took an iron grip on the match.

Not surprisingly, @msdhoni topped the list of the most-mentioned players from India as he steered the side out of a hole while Chris Gayle (@henrygayle) was the most talked about West Indian especially given his failure to get going. Man of the Match Mohammed Shami and Virat Kohli were the second and third most spoken about Men in Blue, respectively.

On-air TV Quiz with Twitter as the second screen

Continuing where they began during the Tri-Series prior to the Cricket World Cup, Star Sports innovated with an on-air quiz during the studio show. This is another great use of Twitter to keep viewers engaged in the lead up to the match.

Quizster

@StarSportsIndia also kicked off an awesome integration on Twitter by launching a personalized #CWC15 Quiz. Users can participate by Tweeting their answers to collect points. The best part is that users with the Top 5 scores will be flown to Mumbai next week to meet the @StarSportsIndia commentary team.

#AskCaptain

At the end of #IndvWI, the International Cricket Council’s (@ICC) continued with the #AskCaptain integration where Twitter user Sathya Narayanan’s question was answered live on global TV by Team India captain @msdhoni!
