Get Registered to Vote with @Gov

This morning we kicked off National Voter Registration Day at Twitter DC, where we announced a few new ways to help you to register to vote and encourage others to do so, through Twitter.

Starting today, when a someone sends a private, Direct Message to Twitter’s @Gov account with their five-digit zip code, that person will receive an automatic Direct Message response including their state’s voter registration deadline and a personalized link to get registered.

Simple and easy and all powered through our partnerships with Rock the Vote.

And as we get closer to Election Day, Twitter’s partnership with Pew’s Voting Information Project and Google’s Information Civic API will power the @Gov account to answer additional questions from voters, like polling place location and ballot information.

Are you already registered to vote? Excellent! Make sure to let your friends and family know by Tweeting with our new #iRegistered emoji, which will provide a link to register when anyone clicks on it.

We’ll keep you posted on updates about @Gov and other tools you can use as we get closer to November 8.
