Live video brought fans closer to the IIFA Awards

Twitter is a fan’s live connection to culture, and live video explored a new digital storytelling medium at this year’s IIFA Awards. Live video brings you closer to your favourite events, stars, and moments as they happen live around the world.

Through live videos, photos, Vines, and native videos, the International Indian Film Academy Awards (@IIFA) gave fans a front row seat to the electric experience live from Madrid. From live Tweets using #IIFA2016, exclusive Green Carpet access, a look into performance rehearsals, the IIFA Awards made the experience come alive on Twitter. The engaging Twitter experience received 12.74 million total impressions of Tweets.

Live broadcasts from a Periscope-on-wheels took fans in India and the world straight to the Green Carpet in Madrid, and offered a peek into one of their favourite film awards.

Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh (@ranveersinghofficial) delighted fans around the world with his on-the-spot antics and by engaging with them live during the broadcast. Music duo Meet Bros (@meetbros) sang for their fans, and actor Manish Paul @ManishPaul03) sent out a warm greeting to his fans.

Fans caught a glimpse of the fashion at IIFA Awards as actors Aditi Rao Hydari (@aditiraohydari) and Bhumi Pednekar (@psbhumi) chatted with fans in their beautiful Green Carpet look.

Celebrities Sonakshi Sinha (@sonakshisinha), Fawad Khan (@_fawadkhan_), Karan Johar (@karanjohar), Anupam Kher (@AnupamPkher), Shilpa Shetty (@TheShilpaShetty), and Athiya Shetty (@TheAthiyaShetty) created fun Vines at the special Vine Booth (@vine). From catchy one-liners, shout-outs to fans, to designers they were styled in, the stars made the best use of six seconds.
