About Common Thread

We take our role in promoting healthy conversation seriously, and we’re constantly working toward making Twitter a space that’s safe for everyone. We launched Common Thread to share how we're approaching the work ahead of us. We haven't figured it all out yet, but we're committed to being transparent about our efforts to tackle some of the biggest challenges we all face online.

Twitter hasn’t always been a place where everyone felt they could express themselves free from harassment or abuse, particularly for members of marginalized communities. We know this. Which is why we’ve been expanding our team dedicated to developing and building the products and features that empower healthier conversations.

Through Common Thread, you’ll get to meet some of those people behind the scenes — from researchers who uncover insights that spark solutions to product managers who set the course for how we build those solutions into our products, all the way up to our leaders who are ultimately responsible for ensuring we’re making health and safety the foundation of our platform.

We will ask them the tough questions and share those conversations with context. In our stories, you’ll learn the truth about the prevalence of bots, how we think about transparency and what that means for rule-breakers, and how we manage your personal data. We’ll update the site with new stories every other week.

We’d love to hear from you: Tell us what questions you have about health and safety on Twitter. What has been your experience? How would you like to see changes on the platform? Tweet or DM @TwitterSafety.
