Engaging young voters with #LeadersLive

Bite the Ballot’s (@BiteTheBallot) #LeadersLive debates were created to engage young voters in UK democracy, with Twitter at their core.

Bite the Ballot want to increase voter turnout among young people by encouraging them to debate the issues that matter to them, with the people who want to represent them. They have invited the leaders of the UK’s biggest political parties to join them for a series of live discussions which have been streamed online, and with questions and topics sourced from Twitter.

Last week Labour Leader @Ed_Miliband took the stage to answer questions on Twitter.

And last night, it was the turn of @Nick_Clegg to share his views with the Twitter audience.

Clegg became was the fourth political leader to take the stage, following @UK_Labour on December 8, UKIP (@UKIP) on 2 December, and the Green Party (@TheGreenParty) on 27 November.

The final #LeadersLive debate with Prime Minister David Cameron (@David_Cameron) will be confirmed in the new year.
