@TeamGB’s bid to win gold in the men’s curling may have slipped away today, but not before interest in the sport reached new heights on Twitter.

Men’s skipper David Murdoch (@DMurdoch17) led his team to Silver, while Eve Muirhead (@evemuirhead) guided the women to Bronze, sparking a national frenzy for the winter sport, with @BBCSport encouraging fans to Tweet with the hashtag #LoveCurling.

There have been 75,000 mentions of #LoveCurling on Twitter during the Olympic fortnight.

Sports fans from all walks of life have been joining the conversation, from athletes past and present, to fans, brands and celebrities.
