The NRL Grand Final is one of the biggest events on the Australian sporting calendar. Rugby league fans all around the country are pumped and Tweeting up a storm.

Here’s your Twitter guide to the biggest @NRL game of the season.

No matter how Sunday night plays out, we’re likely to see a fairytale winner, redemption, some first-time nerves on the big stage, fond farewells to legends, all at a sold out ANZ Stadium.

Whether you’re at the game with 80,000 screaming fans, watching on TV or out-and-about on a Sunday night, we’ve got a few tips to ensure you don’t miss a thing.

The @NRL will provide the most comprehensive official coverage on the day including all the stats, colour, insights and live commentary, so make sure you are following them.

The two teams have been providing fans amazing access via Twitter all season and it’s only going to ramp-up during the #NRLGF. Give @NRL_Bulldogs and @SSFCRabbitohs a follow to get exclusive access, behind-the-scenes photos and to see the victorious players celebrating their win in the sheds.

To help you discover great Twitter content for the #NRLGF we’ve put together this list of some of our favourite accounts.

The official broadcasters @WWOS9 and @FoxNRL have been working hard to ensure you enjoy the best second-screen experience all season, and will continue to provide great coverage throughout #NRLGF day.

Twitter is your ideal live second screen while watching sport on TV, as recent research from @Nielsen suggests:

  • 50% of Tweets about TV in 2013 were sport related
  • 492 million Tweets sent in 2013 were about sports events
  • 12 of the top 20 Tweeted events on Twitter in 2013 were sporting events

For those lucky enough to have a ticket to the game, follow @ANZStadium for exclusive digital content, real-time traffic and transport updates, and in-stadium advice throughout the day. With free WiFi available to all fans in and around the venue, there’ll be no worries about connecting to Twitter to get the the latest info.

And keep an eye out for the @ANZStadium interactive playground, with live Tweets on the big screens in the Sydney Olympic Park precinct, just like we saw at #Origin and throughout the #NRLFinals.

So no matter which team you’re supporting in the #NRLGF, you can be sure that Twitter will bring you closer to the action than ever before. Even the @NRL big cheese is Tweeting about it!
