Introducing #TROPVINE: Australia's first official Vine competition

Wednesday, 30 July 2014

@TwitterAU has partnered with @TROPFEST to launch the inaugural #TROPVINE competition to find the world’s best six-second filmmakers, making this the first official Vine contest in Australia.

Entrants to #TROPVINE must create a six-second film using the Vine App featuring this year’s Tropfest Signature Item (TSI) — ‘mirror’. After tweeting their film to @TROPFEST with the competition hashtags #TROPVINE and #mirror, entrants can share their Vine film with the world.

Here’s a look at some of the great entries received so far:

It is completely up to entrants as to how they interpret and include the TSI in their film, and filmmakers are encouraged to be as creative or literal as they like.

The 20 most popular Vines will be shortlisted through a public vote, and then judged by a Tropfest jury. The winning Vine-maker will receive a VIP trip to Tropfest Australia 2014, including Qantas flights to Sydney, luxury accommodation at QT Sydney, Nikon camera gear, exclusive VIP tickets to Tropfest and a special lunch with @TwitterAU!

Not only is this Tropfest’s inaugural Vine competition, it is also the first official Vine competition in Australia. The competition will run over eight weeks; entries opened 27 July and close at midnight on 21 September. The shortlist will be unveiled on 22 September and the winner will be announced on 26 September.

Remember that anyone — from anywhere — is invited to enter! Full terms and conditions of entry apply, and can be found here.

#TROPVINE entrants can also look to expand their Vine story and create a short film to be entered into this year’s Tropfest Australia competition, which is open for entries from 13 August and closes on 2 October.
