Gaming icon @sjokz heads to Melbourne for #IWCA and exclusive #TwitterTakeover

Friday, 20 November 2015

Gaming and e-sports are huge drivers of conversation on Twitter in Australia, so to help highlight the great gaming related content on Twitter, we’ve partnered with @RiotGames, publisher of ‘League of Legends’ (@LOL_Oceania), for the International Wild Card All-Stars (#IWCA).

#IWCA will take place 26-29 November, seeing Oceania, Turkey, Russia, Japan, Brazil, South East Asia and Latin America regions compete at the prestigious Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne, which is home to the Australian Open. The first two days of round robin will be broadcast live, with the playoffs being held in front of a live audience on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November.

Over the two live days, fans can take part in player signings and photo opportunities before taking their seat to watch the international teams battle it out in a bid to be crowned the Wild Card All-Stars Champions. The winners will then travel to Los Angeles to take part in the All-Star Event on 10-13 December at the NA LCS studios.

To build anticipation of the Melbourne event, @LOL_Oceania have been running an #OnlyOnTwitter teaser campaign this week to reveal the star guest of #IWCA, asking fans on Twitter to guess who the person might be as their image was gradually revealed.

This morning, @LOL_Oceania announced on Twitter that popular gaming caster @sjokz, from Bruges, Belgium, will be joining #IWCA in Melbourne. They also announced that she’ll be taking over the @LOL_Oceania Twitter account on Tuesday 24 November to talk directly via video with fans using Twitter’s exclusive Q&A app.

To get involved in the exclusive @sjokz Twitter chat is:

  1. Follow @LOL_Oceania and @sjokz on Twitter
  2. Tweet your question with the hashtag #SjokzTakeover
  3. Get onto Twitter 4:30-5:30pm Tuesday 24 November (AEDT) to see @sjokz’s exclusive video replies.

Throughout the International Wild Card All-Stars in Melbourne, make sure you’re following #IWCA hashtag to be a part of a global conversation as the top ‘League of Legends’ gamers go head-to-head from Thursday 26 until Sunday 29 November.
