How #TheBachelorAU finale left the biggest impression on Twitter

Friday, 18 September 2015

This year’s season of #TheBachelorAU has been a Twitter sensation, with Australians turning to Twitter to tell the world how they’d fallen in love with the series.

Last night’s finale was a record breaker, becoming the most-Tweeted episode of a non-sport TV series in Nielsen Twitter TV Ratings (NTTR) history, and generating more than 7 million impressions, making it even bigger than this year’s #Origin!

All week the anticipation on Twitter has been building about @samjameswood’s decision on his one true love. To get the audience pumped @TheBachelorAU has been using Twitter video to share sneak peeks of the big finale.

On the night, Twitter (and Periscope) superstar @OsherGunsberg was on top form, sharing his unique and sometimes irreverent commentary on the show, as well as a look at those deeply personal behind-the-scene moments, and some subtle shout-outs to the show’s sponsors.

One special guest on the night was upcoming Bachelorette @Sam_Frost who for one night only was taking over the @BachelerotteAU account to cheer-on our Bachie:

Just when you thought the night couldn’t get any bigger, the NSW Premier @MikeBairdMP became a surprise viewer and commentator thanks to a dose of man-flu and his overpowering daughters.

And by the end of the episode, we’re sure even the Premier was won over as we discovered the lucky lady that Sam would be declaring his love to.

And where was the quickest place to see a thank you video message from Sam and Snezana? On Twitter, of course.

With that #TheBachelorAU comes to a close, but for all the sweethearts out there we get to do it all over again much to the bemusement of one very pragmatic State Premier!

Get ready for #BacheloretteAU starting 7.30pm on 23 September by following the official account @BacheloretteAU and the show’s host @OsherGunsberg and star @Sam_Frost.
