How #TheBachelorAU premiere won Twitter’s heart

Thursday, 30 July 2015

One of last year’s most-Tweeted shows, #TheBachelorAU, returned to our screens last night, with the introduction of Sam Wood creating an explosion of conversation across Australia, generating over 2.9m impressions and a 54% share of the unique audience on Twitter according to the Nielsen Twitter TV Ratings. This amazing result followed a fantastic pre-launch and on-the-night strategy by @ChannelTen and @EndemolShineAU for the show’s launch.

Twitter is the ideal platform to generate buzz ahead of a new series launch and to capitalise on this @TheBachelorAU team sent key influencers their own #SelfieWithSam life-size cut-out to get up close and personal with. This resulted in an array of bloggers, journos and superfans Tweeting out photos of their close encounters for the world to see.

On launch-night, Twitter was the only place to be with scores of Aussie celebs live-Tweeting along to share their first reactions to this year’s Bachelor and his prospective love-matches.

@HamishAndAndy live-tweeted their own viewing party to share with all their followers.

Meanwhile, comedian @DHughesy speculated that it could be time for a celebrity version.

In a Twitter exclusive, Australia got their very first glance of @Sam_Frost as the upcoming #BacheloretteAU. This first-look GIF went live minutes before the full promo was played on @ChannelTen:

And while live-Tweeting this preview, @Sam_Frost shared with her followers her favourite female contestant this year

#TheBachelorAU has always been known for those “GIF-able” moments and this years was no exception with #AnalGlands being a hashtag that nobody saw coming.

And as a thank-you to tuning in and Tweeting along to episode one, @TheBachelorAU team are sending roses out to some of the night’s most active Tweeters. So if you were Tweeting along make sure you check your postbox today because you may have received a little surprise from Mr Wood himself.
