The Calgary Stampede comes once a year and it’s one of Canada’s biggest events in person and on Twitter.
Running July 8-17, 2016, #Stampede2016 will once again celebrate the people, the animals, the land, the traditions and the values that make up the unique spirit of the west. Expect 10 days of music, food and fun in #YYC with Twitter your best bet for sharing in the #Stampede2016 conversation online.
We asked a handful of Calgary’s notable to give us their pick of a key Twitter account to follow during #Stampede2016. Here are the accounts they came back with.
Aisling Tomei (@CTVAshTomei)
Co-Host, CTV Morning Live
I’ll be following Stampede Breakfasts @StampedeBreakF during #Stampede2016 because it’s a great way to find a breakfast close by and connect with friends and neighbours in your community! And who doesn’t love a Stampede pancake breakfast? Such a great tradition in #YYC.
I am going to be following the Calgary Stampede Indian Princess @StampedeIP during #Stampede2016. Vanessa Stiffarm will have amazing experiences over the next 10 days, representing the five tribes of the Treaty Seven Nations. It is so special to see that today, Vanessa is an integral part of the tradition of Stampede Royalty.
Ryan Massel aka Mr. Fabulous (@immrfabulous)
Blogger, Writer and On-Air Media Personality
I’ll be following @GlobalCalgary on Twitter during #Stampede2016 because we have a strong and diverse online team working around the clock and reporters on the grounds of Stampede. I enjoy the variety of fun and light pieces on what’s new or the more practical like how to tackle the event on a budget, to news stories that develop through out the 10 day event that impact our city and province.
I’ll be following @calgarystampede and @nenshi on Twitter during #Stampede2016 because the @calgarystampede provides great, up-to-date info on what’s happening and @nenshi because I love seeing how our Mayor gets out to so many communities to celebrate the Stampede spirit in Calgary.
I’ll be following @FlyYYC on Twitter during #Stampede2016 because they’ll be welcoming visitors to YYC and getting them into the Stampede spirit with entertainment, photo booths, White Hat ceremonies, and more!
