The Toronto International Film Festival (@TIFF_NET) is back en masse for the first time since 2019.
This means top talent, industry VIPs and film fans alike will be flocking to Toronto in the coming days, celebrating the best in cinema and giving us all a sneak peek at the flicks that’ll be filling our screens this fall and beyond.
#TIFF22 is the official TIFF hashtag for 2022. Not only does it unlock a custom emoji, it’ll also give people on Twitter a real-time pulse on the best TIFF content and conversation.
The TIFF team and Twitter Canada are also teaming up on a series of bold new events and dynamic content experiences. Here is a sneak peek of what you’ll be seeing on our service in the coming days:
Our @TwitterMovies team will also be attending TIFF for the first time. Follow the account for live Tweets from the event, original content and shares of the best #TIFF22 content.
Twitter Canada will also be back IRL in a big way during #TIFF22. On September 9th, we’ll be hosting a #TakeUpSpace panel discussion in partnership with TIFF. This big ticket event will feature the cast of the upcoming film The Woman King. Based on a true story, the film tells the tale of the Agojie, an all-female Black military force who existed in West Africa in the 1800s.
Scheduled to appear on the panel are top Woman King cast members including Viola Davis, Thuso Mbedu, Lashana Lynch, Sheila Atim and John Boyega. Twitter’s global director of culture and community God-is Rivera (@GodisRivera) will serve as moderator for this important conversation. TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey (@cameron_tiff) will also be appearing, delivering opening remarks to kick off the panel.
Fans can watch the event live on Twitter via the TIFF and Twitter Canada accounts with the live stream starting at noon Eastern.
With the film as the backdrop, the panel conversation will not only celebrate a group who are far too often marginalized, but speak to the power of Black women and how we should all #TakeUpSpace.
As film fans in Toronto and beyond prime for the full #TIFF22 experience, keep Twitter close for all the latest news, celebrity moments and fan reactions coming out of the festival. And make sure to follow @TIFF_Net, @TwitterMovies and @TwitterCanada to keep your timelines jam-packed with the best TIFF content in real-time.
