Celebrating Eid on Twitter

As the holy fasting month of Ramadan comes to an end, Muslims around the world have been celebrating Eid al-Fitr on Twitter.

Over the last two days (August 7 & 8) there have been more than two million mentions of the festival on the platform. We’ve seen Tweets from those celebrating Eid, as well as greetings from individuals and organisations sharing their best wishes with the Muslim community.

Tweets on the topic have come from around the world, with the five top countries for Eid-related messages being Indonesia, the USA, Malaysia, the UK and Saudi Arabia.

Ahead of this week’s celebrations, the Muslim community have been using Twitter throughout Ramadan for support, reflection and information. In fact, there have been more than five million mentions of Ramadan on Twitter since it started on July 9.
