Fans of Roy Lichtenstein can take a stroll around the Tate Modern’s retrospective exhibition this Thursday - without even leaving the house.

#TateTour is a new initiative launched by the gallery this week, designed to bring the London exhibition to pop art enthusiasts across the globe, and is the gallery’s first curator-led tour to take place on Twitter.

The exhibition co-curator Iria Candela will select the content for Twitter users, and will Tweet from the 125-picture exhibition over a 30 minute period, this Thursday 25th April at 6pm BST.

She said: “I’ll be giving the tour on Twitter live from Tate Modern, telling the stories behind the artworks in each room in the exhibition. This is the first time we have done a tour in this way, but I hope it will allow even more people to get to know Lichtenstein and his work.”

Iria’s 140 character Tweets will offer concise and interesting facts looking at the history of the paintings, and explain how the exhibition was curated.

Following the tour she will take part in a Q&A on Twitter at 6.30pm.

You can follow @Tate to join the tour and use the hashtag #TateTour to share your thoughts and questions with Iria.

Galleries, artists and art fans around the world use Twitter as a way to connect with each other and to follow their interests.
