It may have been another wet weekend on Worthy Farm, but that didn’t dampen the spirits of Glastonbury fans, who sent more than a million Tweets about the weekend’s festival.
The big headline acts of the weekend were Arcade Fire on Friday(@arcadefire), Metallica on Saturday (@Metallica) and Kasabian on Sunday (@KasabianHQ).
And it was Metallica that took the crown for the most-mentioned headline act — over the course of the weekend there were more than 130,000 mentions of the band, compared to 70,000 of Kasabian and 42,000 of Arcade Fire.
But when it came to Tweets, it was this one about Dolly Parton (@DollyParton) that captured the imagination of fans on Twitter, with more than 4,000 retweets:

The BBC broadcast the event across multiple TV and radio channels over the course of the weekend. They used Twitter as a way to bring fans watching at home closer to the action, using the platform as a second screen to the live broadcast. Their live Twitter voting allowed and fans to pick their glasto highlight with a Tweet:
