Tomorrow, West Ham United (@WHUFC_Official) will host the club’s first-ever ‘Social Media Match’, bringing to life their @PremierLeague fixture with Hull City (@HullCityTeam) on Twitter.

With much riding on the game as both sides battle for @PremierLeague safety, the backing of both sets of fans is more important than ever.

Twitter is already at the heart of the Hammer’s matchday experience. But Wednesday night’s activities will take this a step further, combining a number of pre, during and post match plans on Twitter to bring fans closer to the action than ever before:

Pre-Game

  • #Gloveaway - Goalkeeper Adrian will be leaving one of his gloves at a mystery East London location, which he will announce at midday on matchday via @AdriSanMiguel. If you are the first fan to find Adrian’s missing glove, you will be given two tickets to the game and have the chance to meet Adrian, who will complete the pair!
  • #HammerShirts - Send your messages of support for the team via #HammerShirts and the 20 best will be printed on the T-shirts worn by the players during their pre-match warm-up. The players will then sign their own T-shirts and send them to the Twitter author who wrote their message.
  • Competitions - For a chance to win signed club memorabilia, predict the starting XI via #WHULineup and West Ham’s first goalscorer via #WHUGoal.
  • #AskMo - Conduct the main match programme interview with Mohamed Diame, by submitting your questions via @whufc_official, using the #AskMo.

During

Post-Match

  • Man of the Match - Your vote counts immediately after the final whistle. Check out the @whufc_official feed for a shortlist and the player with the most RT wins Man of the Match, with one of the fans who voted for him winning a signed prize!

More than half of Premier League first-team players are on Twitter, and the 2013/14 season is the first in which fans have been able to follow all 20 Premier League clubs on Twitter too. The @PremierLeague itself has more than 3.7 million followers and treats fans around the world to live score updates and news, and you can also check out all 72 clubs from the @football_league in this list.
