@UKIP join the #LeadersLive debates

UKIP (@UKIP) Leader Nigel Farage (@Nigel_Farage) became the UK’s second political leader to take part in a #LeadersLive debate tonight as he answered questions on his policies from young voters.
The event was hosted by @BiteTheBallot and was livestreamed on Twitter and YouTube. Bite the Ballot have set up the series of interviews to give young people the chance to grill political leaders on their policies ahead of the 2015 general election. The organisation wants to increase voter turnout among young people by encouraging them to debate the issues that matter to them, with the people who want to represent them.
Bite the Ballot have placed Twitter at the heart of their debates, making the most of the open and conversational nature of the platform.
Viewers and the studio audience Tweeted in their questions on a range of topics including the EU, democracy and immigration. Twitter users also voted on the fourth area of discussion - education:
The interview was was chopped up into mobile-friendly bite-sized video chunks that were Tweeted out from @BiteTheBallot and @ITVNews, giving people who couldn’t tune in for the live stream the chance to catch up on the best bits while on the go. The debate trended across the UK as thousands of people joined the conversation.
