The saying goes that once you’ve shared a meal with someone, you’ve made a friend for life – speaking volumes about the universal appeal of food. Whether it’s sharing a restaurant recommendation or even just a recipe, Twitter is a fantastic platform for foodies, chefs and restaurants around the world to connect on their favourite subject.
This year, Twitter will join forces with some of the biggest chefs and restaurants in the UK, Ireland, France, Germany and Spain to celebrate #FoodFriday on Friday, 12 June.
What to expect?
#FoodFriday will bring together some of Europe’s top culinary professionals and institutions to share recipes, offer behind-the-scene tours of some of the continent’s most renowned kitchens, serving as the platform to discover a wealth of exclusive food-related content.
What does #FoodFriday look like?
#FoodFriday will provide food lovers with a whole day of unmissable content, with participants sharing new ideas at key points throughout the day:

“The MEATwagon, #MEATeasy and MEATliquor were all built via Twitter. We’ve been able to develop the individual personalities of the various restaurants across the UK and in Singapore by maintaining the separate accounts for each site we have. The interactions with our followers are invaluable for both keeping up conversations with our existing customers and also for engaging new ones.”Yianni Papoutsis, owner of the MEAT chain
“We have seen more and more of our partner restaurants embracing Twitter and all its benefits over the past few years. It’s a phenomenal platform for bringing together like-minded individuals and I can’t think of a better way for restaurants to raise their profile amongst a dedicated foodie audience. We’re so excited to see all the great food-related posts that will be shared on #FoodFriday.”Adrian Valeriano, VP, Sales and Services at OpenTable
