A look at how brands Tweeted during the #Brits2016

Kicking off with an explosion of confetti and some very snazzy dancing, Wednesday night’s #BritAwards was a huge event on Twitter, inspiring some of the most vibrant chat we’ve seen so far in 2016. The volume of conversation this year was massive, with over 7.5M Tweets sent during the show and lots of great ways for music fans to get involved.

With Twitter emojis, fans could show their excitement in the run up to the show by Tweeting hashtags like #RihannaBRITs and #JustinBieberBRITs. There were more than one million Tweets mentioning the #BRITs emoji. The Best British Video category was decided on Twitter, with a live social vote.

As people at home waited patiently for the 2016 version of cape gate, the night was packed full of performances from amazing British and international artists. There was even a surprise appearance from Craig David, who usually has somewhere else to be on Wednesdays.

Music lovers flock to Twitter during big entertainment events like the Brit Awards and brands don’t miss the chance to connect with this live audience. This year, UK brands didn’t disappoint, giving viewers at home a sneak peek into the action with GIFs, video, and Pericope, as well as some of the biggest LOL’s of the evening with timely quips and comments.
