Anthony Joshua (@AnthonyFJoshua) became the latest British heavyweight champion of the world on Saturday - and immediately took to Twitter to show off his new IBF belt.

Joshua shared a mobile video - a feature available to all Twitter users - with his followers, direct from his dressing room.

Joshua’s title win was celebrated with a selfie inside the ring by promoter @EddieHearn within moments of the result being called:

Eddie, Group Managing Director @matchroomsport, commented:

Twitter has been a game changer for us and it was amazing to see the interaction from the fans in the arena and at home on Saturday night. We now live in a world where promoters and fighters are far more accessible and fan feedback plays a huge part in what we are trying to deliver. Roll on the first defence of AJ’s World title.. You will most likely hear about it on Twitter first!

Joshua follows in the footsteps of Bob Fitzsimmons, @LennoxLewis, @frankbrunoboxer, @mrdavidhaye and @Tyson_Fury, and many of his predecessors were quick to salute him on Twitter:

Meanwhile, @Tyson_Fury predictably laid down a challenge:

In the build-up to the fight, Joshua had engaged in Twitter conversation with @SpursOfficial footballer @dele_alli, who had joked that his #THFC team-mate @ericdier was set to be the next challenger.

They even worked on Dier’s ring walk.

That fictional match-up didn’t happen, but now @mrdavidhaye and @Tyson_Fury will be looking to land their fights with Joshua.

When Tyson Fury beat @Klitschko to win his world title, he took to Periscope to ask his fans who he should fight next and Joshua’s name featured.

Meanwhile, @mrdavidhaye has been surprising his fans with direct video messages to thank them for their support:

Haye plans to use Periscope and GoPro to give fans a first-person perspective of his punches during one of his next training sessions. Follow him on Periscope to tune in.
