Monday, 1 April 2019

Co-founders of Twitter, Jack Dorsey (@Jack) and Biz Stone (@biz), made a stop in South Korea and joined globally acclaimed K-pop band GOT7 (@GOT7official) for a very special #TwitterBlueroom session. It was their first experience to meet a Kpop band in person. K-pop fans around the world have always turned to Twitter to see what’s happening with their favourite idols and to talk about #KpopTwitter, and this live Q&A with Jack, Biz and GOT7 was no exception – recording over 1.1 million views!

During this #TwitterBlueroom, GOT7 members Mark Tuan (@mtuan93), BamBam (@BamBam1A) and YoungJae (@GOT7YJ_Ars_Vita) sat down with Jack and Biz to discuss the power of the #KpopTwitter community. The members kicked off the session with an introduction of their “new members,” referring to Jack and Biz as “Jack-Jack” and “Biz-Ness” respectively. Laughing at the newly given nicknames, Jack suggested that they could start a K-Pop band themselves called “The Birds.”

During the live broadcast, which lasted approximately 30 minutes, Jack, Biz and GOT7 members answered fan questions posted through the hashtag #JACKmeetsGOT7 – their discussion included Jack and Biz’s experiences in Korea, how Twitter is a great platform for GOT7 to engage their fans on a more personal level, and what would each one of them do if they had two weeks to do anything they want.

The entertaining session also included an impromptu freestyle rap battle between Biz and BamBam about Twitter. Meanwhile, Jack appreciated the meaning of the words to one of GOT7’s top hits, “Hard Carry” – a gaming term used to describe a role that a player is assigned with the expectation to carry the team to victory – which impressed the GOT7 members. Biz then shared that during an earlier press interview, when a journalist asked Jack how does he successfully run two companies at the same time, Jack responded with “hard carry.”

GOT7 members gifted Jack and Biz with the band's signature lightstick and figures. The band's Ahgasaes (light stick) is in the shape of a bird, which is a great coincidence as Twitter's logo is a bird, too!

The Korean stars also received Twitter gifts from Jack and Biz, and the band expressed their gratitude on Twitter.

The session ended with a special request from Jack Dorsey, who wanted the GOT7 members to choreograph the “Bird Flap” dance, a move that would apparently be used in other Twitter’s offices. The GOT7 members then improvised a move from their hit song “Fly,” and taught Jack and Biz the move.
