Normally, Jay-Z (@S_C_) isn’t the most prolific tweeter, but he recently emerged from his Twitter hiatus to connect personally with fans.
Here are some #FactsOnly about the spontaneous Twitter Q&A on Monday, July 8 with Jay-Z.
It began with a response to an unsuspecting fan:
@brianfagioli YES. *my laugh
— Mr. Carter ( @S_C_) July 8, 2013
…and from there, the volley of his replies to questions lasted for seven hours. Fans from all corners of the globe tweeted questions to @S_C_ , and with rapid @-reply speed, Hova revealed never-before-heard info about the inspirations behind #MagnaCartaHolyGrail (also known as #MCHG, his twelfth studio album) and other facts of (his) life:
RT @xcxarlos_sc What song was the most fun recording? #MCHG [BBC #factsonly]
— Mr. Carter ( @S_C_) July 8, 2013
RT@Super8___ In my opinion, this is your deepest album yet as far as content. Was it intentional..? #MCHG @S_C_[trying to grow #factsonly]
— Mr. Carter ( @S_C_) July 8, 2013
In response to a question about his favorite breakfast cereal, the Cap’n himself weighed in:
@Timberflake27 Mr. Jay z what’s your favorite cereal? [cap’n crunch growing up. I haven’t had cereal in a bit #factsonly] crunch berries tho
— Mr. Carter ( @S_C_) July 8, 2013
.@NATELY @S_C_ I, for one, am quite pleased with todays revelation that HOVA’s not a businessman, but a Berries… man.

Fellow artists and even a Congressman chimed in:
You learn something every day! Never knew @S_C_ was a fan of Toxic! That’s Big Pimpin ;)
— Britney Spears ( @britneyspears) July 9, 2013
.@S_C_ love ur stuff w Kanye. Who’re u looking to collaborate w next? #MCHG
— Rep. Trey Radel ( @treyradel) July 8, 2013
In less than an hour, fans around the world had tuned in on Twitter, #MCHG became the #2 worldwide trending topic, and 100+ people had Tweeted replies from Hov himself. By the end of the seven-hour marathon, the @S_C_ follower count grew by 46,000 and there were more than 1.5 million mentions of Jay-Z and the new album.
But wait: there’s more. Just a few days later, Jay-Z’s Tweet mentioning “6 pieces of art” on his new album came to life with Vine. Cedar and other attendees at his six-hour live performance of “Picasso Baby” shared the marathon show (and its many surprise guests) via Vine:
