Baseball’s best took the diamond at Target Field (home of the @Twins) tonight for the @MLB All-Star Game. Fans around the world sent more than 1.4 million Tweets about the #ASG during the live telecast on @MLBonFOX, over 600,000 of which mentioned Derek Jeter’s final appearance.

Conversation about Derek Jeter dominated the night. Fans, players and celebrities turned to Twitter to honor Jeter (who singled, doubled and scored a run in the game), for playing in his 14th and final mid-summer classic. This chart below shows that Jeter and related hashtags, such as #FarewellCaptain and #RE2PECT, were mentioned over 615,000 times on Twitter during the game telecast:

In addition to the outpouring around Jeter, baseball enthusiasts were all over every play of the American League’s 5-3 win over the National League, whether talking about the electrifying performances of @MiguelCabrera and @ClaytonKersh22, or discussing rising stars such as MVP @Trouty20, @TheCUTCH22, @YasielPuig and Monday’s #HRDerby champ @ynscspds.
