#NBAAllstar weekend: Twitter Mirrors, voting, Vine Booth

#NBAAllstar weekend featured a different kind of triple threat.

With live voting, the Vine Booth and the Twitter Mirror for Samsung, Twitter was on hand for the festivities in New Orleans. Here’s how the NBA, Turner Sports and the All-Stars themselves shared their take on the events throughout the weekend.

Sharing Vine videos

Turner Sports had a Vine Booth present for Media Day last Thursday and Friday, and then moved it to arena Sunday for the All-Star game, front and center to capture the action on the All-Star Red Carpet. NBA stars, owners, legends, musicians and other celebrities stopped by the Vine Booth to show off a 360-degree view of their fashion sense, six seconds at a time.

In addition to the Vine Booth, NBA accounts tweeted Vine videos. @NBA shared a behind-the-scenes Vine video of the West All-Stars’ team portrait and clips of the players being introduced and warming up.

The players also showcased their style with #AllStarKicks, giving fans on Twitter an up-close look at their spiffy shoes. This photo of #KiaAllStarMVP @KyrieIrving’s kicks was one of the five most retweeted all weekend:

Posing for the Twitter Mirror

The NBA All-Stars and young guns posed for the Twitter Mirror from the Rising Star Challenge (featuring the league’s top rookies and sophomores) Friday through the #NBAAllstar Game Sunday evening.

The players took photos at the various events and winners posed for the Twitter Mirror with their trophy. @MarcoBelinelli’s Twitter Mirror photo following his Three-Point Contest victory was one of the top five most-retweeted Tweets of the weekend, according to Twitter internal data:

The Twitter Mirror also captured celebrities in the Celebrity Game and musical performers.

All weekend long, Tweets, both from the Twitter Mirror and elsewhere, were projected on the big screen in the fan “JAM Session” area.

Voting with hashtags

Fans could vote for the MVP of the All-Star Game and Rising Star Challenge, as well as the Slam Dunk Contest champion. For the #NBAAllstar game, fans had the choice of voting three different ways, including on Twitter with the hashtag #KiaAllStarMVP.

To vote for MVP of the Rising Star Challenge, fans could tweet the player’s first and last name and include the hashtag #BBVACompassRisingStars; for the Slam Dunk Contest champion, fans could tweet with the hashtag #SpriteSlam with the player’s last name. Other appropriate hashtags were also taken into account. The NBA used Telescope to count the voting.
