The Billboard Trending 140: Oct. 20-27

Monday, 3 November 2014

@TaylorSwift13’s new album “1989” debuted on October 27th, and three songs landed in the top 10 of the overall Popular charts. “Shake It Off” continued its strong showing at #3, with tracks “Out of the Woods” and “Welcome to New York” at #4 and #6 respectively. At her current rate, she is on target to break 1 million copies of her album in the first week.

The premiere of their brand new video for “Steal My Girl” allowed @OneDirection to maintain their incredible dominance of the overall popular charts as the song sits at #1. Although their video did not break Vevo’s record for most views in 24 hours (currently held by @NICKIMINAJ), the video still racked them up, with over 16 million to date.

@Drake shocked everyone when he revealed three brand new songs last weekend, including “How Bout Now,” which lands at #8 on the overall Popular charts and was #9 on the Popular debuts.

On the Emerging debut charts, two artists are taking it over. @reBELLYus and @Skeme both have two tracks on the charts. @reBELLYus lands at #2 and #4 with “Super Dave” and “Holy Water” respectively, while @Skeme has “Promise” at #3 and “Stop Playin’” at #4. @Skeme’s “Promise” was also selected by @Power106LA as part of their “Leaks of the Week” series, which definitely raised awareness for the track.

Here’s this week’s #RealTimeRewind from @Billboard with @RealJoeLevy. He is joined by Pete Wentz (@PeteWentz) and the episode predicted big things for “this Taylor Swift person.”
