The Billboard Trending 140: Sept. 22-29

@KendrickLamar had a big week with the release of his new single “i” which rocketed to the #1 spot on the Popular Chart. As the most mentioned song and most popular debut of the week, the track samples the Isley Brothers “That Lady” and is the first cut from the highly anticipated follow-up to “good kidd, m.A.A.d city.”

@5SOS’s cover of The Romantics “What I Like About You” appeared at #9 in Popular Tracks, while their pals and mentors @onedirection held down the #2 position with “Steal My Girl.” ”Shake It Off” by Taylor Swift (@taylorswift13) took the #3 spot this week followed by @5SOS “Amnesia” at #4 and @NickiMinaj “Anaconda” at #5.

Conversation about Nicki’s song keeps “Anaconda” on the Popular Chart almost every week since its debut, but she had an added boost after announcing she’s hosting the MTV EMAs.

@NickJonas nabbed the #1 spot in the Trending 140 this week with “Jealous.” Kristin Chenoweth (@KChenoweth) was one of many fans to show her support for the song.

The Emerging Chart welcomed @DeJLoaf who jumped into the #1 spot with “Try Me,” unseating @OGMaco who held the spot last week. There’s no love lost between them though — it seems their close Emerging Chart position created mutual fans.

@Kiesza continues her momentum with “Hideaway,” landing on the #3 spot of the Emerging Chart. This is her ninth week in a row in the top three!
