Hoodie Allen had the most popular debut of the week with “Dumb for You,” even beating out chart regulars @onedirection who debuted “Steal My Girl.”
In the early days of his career, Hoodie Allen worked at Google and wrote songs late at night after coming home from his job. His passion is paying off as Hoodie’s followers clamor for his new album “People Keep Talking,” out on Oct. 14.
Don’t worry about the guys in @onedirection, though. While they didn’t have the #1 debut, they still had the most popular track of the week. Their song “Fireproof” dominated overall mentions and trended worldwide several times.
@FallOutBoy joined the charts with their debut of “Centuries.”
“4th Quarter” from @BigSean dropped this week and quickly rose into the top ten discussed songs on Twitter.
There’s no stopping @CalvinHarris this year as he continues to release hit songs. Featuring John Newman (@JohnNewmanMusic), “Blame” is his fifth number-one single on the UK chart and sits at #6 in popular debuts this week.
New albums impacting the Billboard + Twitter charts this week include “X” from @ChrisBrown, “World on Fire” from @Slash and “Sundown Heaven Town” from @TimMcGraw.
Keep an eye out for Logic’s (@logic301) new album “Under Pressure,” debuting on Oct. 21. His album announcement was one of the most popular music Tweets last week.
Emerging artists shine
@therealelp and @KillerMikeGTO, better known as Run The Jewels (@runjewels), dropped “Oh My Darling Don’t Cry” as part of @AdultSwim singles.
The number one track of the week on the Emerging Chart is @Preign’s “Realest in the City,” which came out almost two weeks ago and continues to find new fans on Twitter. The song has over 1.2 million streams on @Soundcloud.
Music videos matter
Death from Above 1979 (@dfa1979) released the official video for “Trainwreck 1979” and pushed the song back into the top ten tracks on the Emerging Chart. The video came out on the same day as the band’s second album, “The Physical World.” The punk-dance duo’s first album came out a decade ago. Welcome back @dfa1979!
