Now on TweetDeck: group Direct Messages

We’re excited to start rolling out Group Messaging on TweetDeck.

Private conversations on Twitter are a great complement to the largely public experience of the platform. It may be that you prefer to read Tweets but converse about them privately. It may be that you want to continue a public conversation privately with a smaller group or start one based on a Tweet you saw. It may be that you want to collaborate on a developing story with your colleagues. Whatever the case may be, the ability to converse privately with groups gives you more options for how and with whom you communicate on Twitter.

The home timeline is a great place to have conversations but it’s also a place to find great conversation starters.

With groups, you can start conversations with any of your followers and they don’t all need to follow one another in order to chat. You can create a group in just a few clicks, and if you’re added to a group you’ll get a notification. If you’re brand new to Direct Messages, here’s a good resource to learn more.

We are starting to roll this feature out today. To start a private group conversation, go to tweetdeck.twitter.com and tap the “New message” icon from the Messages column. In addition to rolling out on TweetDeck for web, group Direct Messages will also work in Chrome and Windows, with TweetDeck Mac coming soon.
