The Tweet about Mike Magee’s (@magee18) daughter and the importance of role models was selected by Twitter’s team, who reviewed global data to identify the most impactful Tweets related to this year’s #FIFAWWC conversation around the world.

Winners will receive a limited edition #GoldenTweet trophy, and across the world panels of notable local football enthusiasts and sporting personalities were assembled to select the winners.

Jay Bavishi, Senior Manager & Global Lead on Quadrennial Events at Twitter said: “It has truly been a triumphant and game-changing Women’s World Cup tournament that has set pulses racing and sparked conversations and debates on and off the pitch. Aside from the fantastic displays shown in every match, the Tweets that were produced gave the world real-time insights into the highs, the lows, the passion and humour that can be evoked from the beautiful game.

“People want to watch and talk about women’s sports. When it comes to coverage of women’s sports globally, there is a lot of work to be done and Twitter is helping to fill that void. Twitter makes the conversation around sports a level playing field by uniting fans across gender, age groups and location. As sports is one of the biggest conversations on our platform, we bring people closer to the action, closer to the fans and closer to the players themselves.”
