Start on the front foot for #CT17 with Twitter

Twitter is the best place to see and talk about what’s happening in the world of cricket. As the ICC (@ICC) Champions Trophy 2017 (#CT17) gets underway in England, ICC and Twitter is launching a host of innovative interactive fan experiences for #CT17 that will flow seamlessly on-air, on ground, and on Twitter. 

Fans will enjoy premium match highlight videos through ICC’s Amplify partnership with Nissan India (@Nissan_India), the first-ever personalized experience via Direct Messages for sports fans to receive live updates and match highlights, live 360 videos, special Twitter emoji for #CT17, and more only on Twitter experiences.

The latest collaboration builds on the strong collaboration between ICC and Twitter for the #CWC15 and #WT20s over the past few years. Here’s what cricket fans can look forward to:

Personalized Direct Message experience via @ICC: In a first for global sports federations, fans will be able to get a personalized experience via Direct Messages on Twitter with @ICC. They can do this by simply tapping on the ‘Message’ button on ICC’s profile on Twitter. The experience will help them keep up with tournament information and the latest videos from the event. There’s even a special surprise for fans to unlock when fans pick their favorite team.

Premium Match Highlights via Twitter Amplify: Cricket fans in India will be able to enjoy Fall of Wickets, Boundaries and Sixes and Star Performer video highlights from the @ICC account on Twitter throughout #CT17. Nissan and Datsun India will bring these video Tweets to cricket fans through the Twitter Amplify program.

Twitter Emoji for #CT17: Fans can add a little colour to the Twitter conversation around the Champions Trophy by Tweeting with #CT17 and unlocking a new Twitter Emoji of the trophy.

Personalized video Twitter Q&A with commentators and Player of the Match: In addition to unlocking the Twitter Emoji, fans will have the chance to receive a personalized video reply from a commentator or Player of the Match when they Tweet with #CT17 and tag @ICC in their Tweet while the live match is on. Select commentators and players will also use the Twitter Q&A app via @ICC to answer fun questions from fans throughout the event, similar to how AB De Villiers picked between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi here.

#AskCaptain: Cricket fans around the world will also have a chance to engage directly with the winning captain when they Tweet to @ICC with #AskCaptain. One fan’s Tweet will be featured on live global TV as the captain answers his question and the fan will also receive a personalized Twitter video from the winning captain through the Twitter Q&A app.

Twitter Moments: Missed out on the day’s action from the Champions Trophy? @ICC will create a Twitter Moment for every match to bring you up to speed with a daily recap of the best photos, videos and Tweets in an easy-to follow swipeable format.

Live 360 videos from training: And last but not least, cricket fans will get a new perspectives on #CT17 with Live 360 videos from the @ICC account on their phones. From practice sessions to team buses, fans will enjoy a 360 degree view of the tournament on Twitter.
