Major League Baseball’s annual All-Star extravaganza hits Cincinnati as the hometown @Reds host the sport’s greatest players. Whether you happen to be at the Great American Ballpark or are following the action elsewhere, Twitter has baseball fans covered.

The @MLB All-Star Game (#ASG) has had Twitter buzzing since the voting process began. Players and teams asked fans for votes, and some formed alliances to campaign jointly, such as the @Reds Todd Frazier (@FlavaFraz21) and the @Angels Mike Trout (@MikeTrout):

When rosters were announced, players like Frazier and @Athletics pitcher @SonnyGray2 (a first-time All-Star) thanked fans when they were voted in.

Other players congratulated their teammates, as @Yankees DH Alex Rodriguez (@AROD) did when fellow Yankee Brett Gardner was a late addition:

#FinalVote
The real madness went down during Friday’s #FinalVote, where fans could vote for the final member of each league’s roster. For the fourth straight year, @MLB opened up the vote on Twitter as the exclusive social platform.

This year has seen a unique new twist, with @Twitter Emojis unlocking with every hashtag vote:

The six-hour voting window featured campaigning from every angle, from teammates…

The results? Carlos Martinez (@Tsunamy27) and Mike Moustakas (@Mooose_8) won the fan vote. The #FinalVote on Twitter came down to the wire and peaked at 25,000 Tweets in the final minute. In the end, the top two leading Twitter vote-getters were in the American League, #VoteMoose and #VoteDozier, and were followed by #VoteCueto, #VoteTsunami and #MVPforASG in the top five.
