Twitter and the NBA have unveiled unique hashtag-triggered Twitter emojis for all 24 NBA All-Stars. The emojis, revealed on Twitter by Tweeting #firstnamelastname (e.g., #StephenCurry, #LebronJames; Note: Giannis Antetokounmpo only requires his first name #Giannis), are now live through Monday, Feb. 20.
The new player-specific emojis capture the fun and personality of NBA All-Star Weekend, replacing the All-Star jersey number Twitter emojis that appeared next to a player’s name when NBA All-Star rosters were announced last month.
Unveiled tonight on TNT, Twitter emojis have also been created for the Turner Sports’ Emmy Award-winning “Inside the NBA” studio team and game broadcast team for use during NBA All-Star 2017 in New Orleans.
All-Star MVP Voting
Twitter and the NBA also announced the return of the Kia NBA All-Star MVP Award fan vote, which will be conducted exclusively through Twitter.
Beginning at the start of the fourth quarter of Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game on TNT, fans can register MVP votes during a 30-minute window by tweeting #KiaAllStarMVP and #firstnamelastname in the same tweet. Retweets will count and the fan vote winner will account for 25 percent of the overall vote.
The Kia All-Star MVP will receive a Kia Sorento to donate to a charity of their choice. Vote on Twitter and help make a difference in the community!
