How Twitter can help brands during Black Friday and Cyber Monday

UK shoppers spent more than £2.6 billion on Black Friday and Cyber Monday in 2016 (1). The significant number underscores the size of the opportunity for brands and new *research highlights how Twitter can help retail and tech brands up their slice of this consumer spending.

We found that recognition of Black Friday and Cyber Monday is almost universal among our users, who see the days as the start of Christmas shopping. With gifts in mind, as many as half of our users keep an eye out for Black Friday Tweets from their favourite brands.

And 42% say they look to buy Christmas gifts on Black Friday, and more than half of this number seek out Black Friday deals online before heading out to the shops.

As many as 79% of users look for Black Friday deals on Twitter, and 55% of them look for Cyber Monday deals. And this year 48% of users will be looking for tech deals.

What Twitter users want

Our users told us exactly what they want to see from retailers and brands on Twitter: 84% want a preview of upcoming deals, with 74% asking for useful information about deals, and 62% specifically looking for reminders about when deals will go live.
