As a global communications platform, Twitter is used by Indians in many ways every day. While following live sports, keeping abreast with latest news, sharing views with the world are extremely common, our users and partners have always pushed the boundaries on how Twitter can make their lives better. This year, some of the largest and most entrepreneurial Indian businesses have led the way in innovating and creating new ways for users and customers to connect and transact via Twitter.

Only last week Lookup (@LookUpHQ), an on-demand platform that lets users connect with local businesses, extended its services to Twitter. People in Delhi NCR, Bangalore, Mumbai, and Pune can now Tweet or send a Direct Message to @lookuplite to enquire for goods and services, book appointments, and transact with local shops, salons, spas, restaurants, and much more. What’s more, Lookup users shopping via Twitter can get free home delivery this Christmas season!

Lookup’s integration (via Twitter APIs and listening tools) mean that local business get to extend their reach via Twitter and users can now #GetThingsDone while following that cricket match on Twitter.

Did you know that you can also manage your mobile account completely on Twitter? Reliance Mobile (@RelianceMobile) launched #SmartCare on Twitter for their users which allows them to pay bills, recharge, get best deals, and also track their voice and data usage. Just Tweet to @RelianceMobile with any one of over 60 hashtags to access and manage your account. Get more info from Smart Care.

Kotak (@KotakBankLtd) launched their #hashtagBanking service on Twitter earlier this year — but they haven’t stopped there. They continue to launch services like movie pre-booking and book purchases that bring exclusive and innovative offerings to Twitter users.

Jet Airways (@jetairways) also launched #JetInstant, their Tweet-based service for getting the best fares and flight status. Travellers can Tweet to get real-time information about their flight via Twitter.

We’re delighted with the way leading businesses, small to large, and across sectors are using Twitter to innovate and make their services more accessible and convenient to their users. And we’re honoured that Twitter continues to be the platform of choice for businesses and consumers alike where these innovations are brought to life.
